Set the Destroyer by beckyg Set the Destroyer by beckyg
This was a commission piece for Dark Wisdom magazine. They published an article outlining some of the many faces of Nyarlathotep, of which I illustrated two. This piece and The Black Lion. Both pieces were sketched out in pencil, then colored in Photoshop. I gotta say I'm very happy with the way this piece turned out. I may even do more Egyptians gods like this and make a collectible print set.

This incarnation of the Crawling Chaos was taken from the following passage:

Again were the rites of Stygia revived, this time even more widely and intensely than under Nephren-Ka. Great temples were erected to Set and Nyarlat, and even the worship of Shuddam-El the Devourer was reestablished here in this very place.
- Richard L. Tierney, "The Worm of Urakhu"

Jeez, it's like he's a demon kangaroo, which doesn't make sense seeing as there are none in Egypt...

Very well done... I recommend you type in 'set' on google and see how often this picture pops up on various websites.. I counted more than five.

Just a heads up. :/

Thanks. Yeah, there's not a lot I can do about that. Sometimes people ask permission to post it, and sometimes they don't. Such is the nature of the Internet. :P

You have two DA galleries (this one and Pickmans-Model.) Which version would you prefer that people add to favorites?

If it's a piece that's on Pickman's Model, you should favorite the piece from the artist's own DA space.

Thanks!

This is, by far, THE best depiction of Set I have seen yet! :D Now that is something I'd be afraid of! Job well done!!

Awesome job on this. There's something about great shading on a black and white image that really catches my attention. I love the Egyptian theme, too!

Thanks muchly!

Hey, I sketched something for TotD, but I was holding off submitting it until I decided whether or not to color it. I may upload it here anyway.

Big fan of TotD! It's two of my most favorite things in the world - InuYasha and Ancient Egypt! :-)

You can always put it up in scraps until you color it - just let me know if you do, because I'll definitely want to see it.

I've always been fascinated with the Eguptian gods, and I even have a few of them in my gallery, if you'd care to take a look.

Great job on this one. I love the shading.
